    Over-door hand-carved archway decorations
    These four doorway arch decorations were designed and hand carved by children rescued from living on the city dump in Chinandega, Nicaragua.  They were placed in school where they received one hot meal for lunch. They were also trained in woodworking as well as the
    regular
    school subjects. I was in Nicaragua and watched several rescued children carve these decorations with hand tools.
    Unbelievable!
    These carvings were made from Nicaraguan hardwood oak, a very hard wood that does not grow in the United States.
